Our holiday coffee comes from our friends, the Montero family in Tarrazu, Costa Rica. This coffee, of the Catuai type, was one of the very first we bought when we started Morgon and have worked with them every harvest since. The coffee is honey processed, creamy and buttery, with notes of chocolate Santas and plum. The Montero's have been producing coffee for three generations. Grandpa Eli was the first, followed by his son Carlos and his grandson Jacob. Not only do they run their own farm and processing station, they have also built their own dry mill, where the coffee get’s husked, graded and ready for export. Marianela Montero, Carlos’ daughter, has started her own exporting company, from which we buy the coffee. This means that from the first seeds sprouted by Carlos at the Montero coffee nursery, to the harvest and processing today led by Jacob, and finally, Marianela doing quality control, finishing our contracts and making sure the coffee gets in a container to Gothenburg, every single step of the coffee value chain is owned and operated by the Montero family.
