From the roaster:
Uraga Raro is a washing station located at 2000 meters above sea level in the Guji zone in the south of Ethiopia. During our trip there in 2019 we travelled with SNAP Coffee Exporters who owns and operates the Uraga Raro station. They buy the ripe, freshly picked coffee cherries from around 430 producers, their neighbouring farms and semi-forest land. Ethiopia has long been known to be very fertile and rich of natural resources and the area around Uraga may be especially so. It's mineral rich soil and climate gives the producers very high yielding trees with an average of 3 kilograms of coffee cherries per tree every harvest. Numbers aside, what made this coffee really stand out for us was its mouthfeel. Beautifully structured with a soft velvety sensation, along with its notes of juicy tropical fruit and sweet blueberry, it's a real treat that is going to shine both as filter coffee and espresso.
