We purchased coffee from Hassan Ware as part of the "Megadu community blend" we featured as both house filter and a component of Facility last year, but we were thoroughly impressed with this lot when offered as a single farmer seperation during our trip to Ethiopia in February. In tables dominated with natural process coffees and special preps (a outcome very much driven by the specific crop and macro-economic conditions of this most recent harvest), Hassan's fully washed lot was a breath of fresh air and absolutely hit the marks for that most classic Guji profile.

We're tasting:
Really classic Guji washed profile - orange blossom, black tea and lemongrass aromatics. In the cup it's super sweet and thick bodied, we're finding lemon curd and pastry notes that remind of us lemon meringue pie, with lower perceived acidity while hot and some peachy stonefruit notes. The sweetness is akin to black tea with white sugar, and as it cools we find more florality and acids become apparent - like elderflower cordial with lemon,
